Could these look any yummier?
This photo is from Hannah, and she used Nigella Lawson's recipe (looks like they turned out fabulously!).
I've made these before too, and they were DIVINE! (I used Lo's recipe at Bake and Shake)
See that white stuff on top of the bars? That is salt. Yes--SALT!
Words cannot express how delish these are--definitely try them, and I would caution you that when you're making the caramel, don't give up.
You will be stirring until you feel like your arm is about to fall off, but don't stop until you reach carmelville and never ever step away during the caramel cooking process. You've gotta stay on top of it!
You will know when it's time to stop stirring when it has the consistency of..wait for it...caramel!
Seriously, this recipe is not hard at all, but the trickiest part is stirring, stirring, stirring, on and on for 15, 20, perhaps even 30 minutes.
I don't remember how long it was exactly--but I remember I kept on wondering, "When is it gonna happen????" And then it did happen after an extended stirring session.
The shortbread part and the chocolate topping are a cinch to do though.
