Awww, now who would have thought that the sour Smartie would taste great with chocolate? I don’t know, but it’s an interesting taste combo and I would totally eat it :-) . These look so festive with the little candies on top, and do you know what else is interesting?
There are no eggs in this recipe! I don’t know how they come out looking like normal cupcakes with no eggs, but the baker/photographer Sunshine Hanan says they are very moist and have no eggs. Go figure!
Grab the recipe! Smarties Chocolate Cupcakes

I’m thinking that they’re chocolate Nestle Smarties as opposed to sour Ce De Candy Smarties… which is a far less bizarre taste combo.
But I totally would have eaten that too as a kid :)

Hey Lydia,
I’m so glad you said that, cuz I did a double take when I saw sour + chocolate. I didn’t know Nestle even made chocolate Smarties, but they would probably taste better than the sour ones :-)

Interesting. I think I would top these with the "chocolate" flavored skittles instead.

Hi AA,
First I didn't know about chocolate Smarties, and now I'm learning that there are chocolate flavored Skittles (and I love that you put "chocolate" in quotes ;-)
